Wonderful meetup

It's been a really great Friday-day for me. The heavy stone that has been lying on my heart is finally lifted and I heaved a sign of relief.

Was invited by Shirley & Family for dinner over at her place. We just love hanging out at her place, one of the best place in Singapore - Duxton Pinnacle. Though many a times, I have to say no to visiting the gardens upstairs, for fear the kids refuse to head home, it's just nice to catchup with old friends almost every month. Right shirley? We met up in Dec before she was due, Jan when she was due and then Feb when she had bb's first month.

Wah, she did a really delicious dinner that I had 2 bowl full of brown rice - my first time. And all the time, the man was asking me " you know how to cook or not???" Zzzzzz....But well, at least I've learnt the new dish on stewing the mushroom and am gonna try out one day. I love mushrooms....

After drinking the soup, wah, now I feel our own soup cannot make it man. If only our soup taste as good as theirs everyday. Maybe we should get a pressure cooker hor..hee hee hee.

Sob sob

My heart always skip a beat whenever I receive phonecalls from the school. It never seem to be good news each time.

This time round, I had 3 missed calls and the school called hb yesterday afternoon, while we were on the way home. The teacher said Reyes had a small accident in school.

While walking towards a teacher who was calling him, he tripped and the teacher grabbed hold of him and accidentally scratched his chest with her fingernails. That's the question. Arent pre school teachers suppose to keep short neat fingernails? I have noticed this new teacher who took over from riesia's class in Term 2 last year who was spotted with bright pink nail polish and blue toe nail polish. I never have a good impression of her, that's why I didnt want Reyes to be in her class. She was like a older version of a not yet grown up "ah-lian", often over dressing herself like a doll, wearing super thin high heels to school.

During the parent meeting session, she had a thick foundation, with blue eyeshadows and yeah, that bright pink nail polish again and I didnt think she spoke fluent english at all. Not sincere. The first impression of her already sucks when she hardly even see us parents or even smile or greet us like other teachers do. Tsk tsk.

I didnt get to find out who exactly that teacher was. To think the main teacher said reyes didnt cry. But he cried big time hysterically during his shower, crying out pain pain, such that hb had to help me cover the area with a handkerchief to prevent soap and water from getting to the wound. It wasnt just a scratch, it was a rather deep scratch, where the skin was scrapped off, causing bleeding. How painful can that be.

Coincidentally, I fell down at Neil Road yesterday afternoon too. Tripped and hurt my knee, despite wearing jeans and there was bleeding...boo hoo. Hb said mother and son both so unlucky.

On a lighter note, I'm happy to be hearing Reyes picking up more and more words and forming sentences these days. Last night I heard him telling me " Just Now, starlet smell grandpa car". That's my first time hearing him say "Just now". And then he imitates his teacher some days too. LIke when I bring him to the toilet, he mumbled "I show you one time", my guess is the teacher was showing him how to pull down his shorts and underpants to pass urine. How cute sometimes to hear him talk.

Not an easy route, but he did it.

It is coming close to 4 weeks since Reyes started school in March. The first two weeks were difficult period for him and myself. He had separation anxiety and didnt feel safe without me being by his side and my heart tore apart when I had to pass him to the teacher and walk off without turning back to see his teary eyes and cries for me. Only to find myself hiding behind the tree to peep at him, and heart relieved when I see him settling down. The 3rd week was a total change. He walked into the hall on Monday without crying, into his Chinese teacher's arms. I waved goodbye to him and he sulk. That moment, I felt so sad again. I should be glad and happy he is probably understanding he has to attend school and is familar with his English and Chinese teacher. But hb msged : He is leaving you already. made me so upset.
I also got to find out that he only looks for his own teachers, and not the other teachers teaching the 2 other classes. It happened twice on 2 days when his teachers werent around and he started to panic and refused to let me go. Thankfully the Chinese teacher came along and he saw a familar face. The teacher praised him for being a very good and quiet boy in class and I'm proud that he already knows how to pull down his shorts and underpants and pee in the toilet.

Previously I had to keep reminding the teachers to help him do it as he doesnt know how to. Couple of times I peep at him at home when he goes to the toilet to pee on his own. hoo hoo, what a funny sight at time to see him alone in toilet. Of course sometimes he specially requests me to help him. How can I say no.

The other night, i caught him holding his hands together and closing his eyes and singing : hands together. It's actually a prayer that the kids have to say before meal times and I'm happy to know he is picking up things in school within 3 weeks. It's not an easy start for him because in Term 2, the classes have officially started and so he has to get used to the new environment and routine. All the other kids have already gotten used to it, as in Term 1, they had playtime all day long and lots of singing to familarise themself in school. So glad so glad.

Weird feeling day

Today didnt start off well. I received an sms from dad asking how is rie and that he misses her very much. Sigh, it's a long story since Chinese New Year. We havent went back since the quarrel in Feb. Missed dad's birthday, missed the last day of Chinese New Year reunion, Missed celebration of rie and hb's birthday together as well. Dad did come visit rie twice, but less than 5 mins as he helped me to deliver my items to my place. I did make a phonecall to mum once, but her tone was so hostile and reluctant to talk to me and I felt so bad and never called again. Rie has also been wondering why we havent been bringing her back to grandma's place for so long and she said she misses her. This sms made me feel so down today. Then after sending the kids back, I witness an unpleasant scene. Of this school mate studying at rie's school, she was walking alone, then as i walked up the stairs, I saw the granny, wear sunshades somemore, then this little girl had a very sad face, and she turned back and handed over to her granny a blue origami. And what did the granny did shock me. She swung her hands past her granddaughter and the blue origami flew just beside on the grasspatch. It was a sad moment to witness. I dont know what wrong or what did the little girl did to deserve such reaction from the granny. As a passer by, I cant do anything. That affected me as well. Definitely not a good Friday.
