It's been such a long time since I last brought reyes out further, other than just hanging at home or at TPY. It's even rare to have hb tag along, coz he has to use his leave with caution now since he has to standby in case SIL is not able to take leave to bring FIL to the doctor.
So that explains how we manage to head out to Bugis yesterday noon with hb. Hb ended the appointment with the dr early and I was lucky that dad offered to send rie to school since it was drizzling. Phew! *Rain = no school for rie if dad is not able to send her*
So off I went with reyes to bugis. He was really excited to go kai kai and kept on saying : Go find papa. He's such a good boy outside, unless he throws his tantrums when he wants a toy car. And he insisted that I bring along his cooper mini out, which of course ended up in the bag after hb carried him lor. White elephant.

Here's a discreet snapshot. I was so paisay to take another shot, coz the guy sitting opposite us was looking.

Looking at him from far, I really have to accept that my little boy is no longer little. He's turning to 2 this Oct and teachers at rie's school are already starting to comment that he is catching up with his sister in terms of height! Coincidentally, his feeth and rie's feet are the same! Except the broadness, they are of the same length.

I'm glad that he turns out to love vehicles, cars, contruction trucks whatever, other than his love for stuff toys. He never fails to always aim for this Roary the racing car that makes sounds and talks when you press the button infront.

And I've started to fall in love with these cute little model cars! Die cast and so cheap too! At just $5.95 per item. We have 4 in all, but I cant seem to find this little fire engine that has an extendable ladder. Reyes would insist on holding 1 each in his hands to bed every night. On bad days, he would want to carry a bigger car to hug to bed and I can only keep it aside when he is sound asleep.

**Side track. Sunday night was a nightmare for me. He kept on waking up and crying. He would wake up and cry : "where is it? Book." and then later, he goes " Where is it? Bear Bear." After I've found the care bear, he would go again : "where is it? Cat?".
Then he got cranky again and decides he wants his car! He points to the door and says " Car car, outside." And then later, I thought I heard wrongly, he said "Shh shh" as in he wants to pee. But he's wearing pampers! I didnt sleep at all of course....
Okay, back to the mini cars. They have many many types of vehicles and I love those that you can open up the doors, like the police car or the honda stream. They have the subaru R1 too! Very cute. They even have mickey mouse type of cars and donald and other fanciful characters.
Diana's son is also into the huge collection of this Takara Cars.
Sometimes I wonder how much can a car entertain a boy? After all, all you can do is just to hold it, push it to move, open up the doors and close it. You cant dress it up or talk to it like a doll. I'm still happier sticking to girls' stuffs.
Here's a pic of reyes, taken at our playground on the way home after sending rie to school this morning. These days, I dont feel like heading out anymore, when I see the hot sun and I'm drenched in sweat.

These days, I can hold a decent conversation with reyes and so can his sister. I'm glad that now she has a companian to talk to when I'm not free. He would surprise me with his new words which I've yet to hear him speak before. Probably pick up fr his sister.
The other day at school, he acted like a big brother. He knows the routine. upon reaching school, heads to the classroom and jie jie would put her bag in the basket. So he went : "Jie jie, bag, put there. Basket."
Then off to the toilet, to the last cubicle. That day, rie was pulling reyes hand in the cubicle and he shouted to her " Dont pull". which of course is new to me!
So that night, I was trying to make him say it again infront of hb.
Me : Reyes, say " dont pull"
He kept quiet and ignores me.
I tried it again and this time, I pulled his hand on purpose.
And he said........."Let go!" Kaoz!
And there was a day when he told his sister : "jie jie, 你看!" Which is also new to me, coz I dont speak to him in mandarin and he must have pick it up from his sister. Coz rie always say "mama, 你看! Didi urine on the floor." hahahaha.
**Reyes is up from his nap and was just sitting next to me minutes ago while I"m blogging and then when I turn around, he has fallen back to sleep again on the couch beside me!!**
So, other than that 2 words, he can say “不要" when he doesnt want something. Yesterday afternoon, he ran over to our neighbour's door. Our neighbour has a little girl, her #3 the same age as Reyes. She's born in Nov, a month later than Reyes and can be quite a terror too.
She shouted "给我" to Reyes as she wanted his mini cooper and reyes shouted " MY CAR!" and hugged the car very tightly and turned his back against her. Hoo hoo, talking about being possessive!
It's funny somehow I wonder how the kids communicate. My neighbour speaks solely mandarin to their kids and us English to R & R. So it is really like a chicken and duck situation before rie started school when she didnt know a single mandarin. Now, she understands, but still doesnt know how to express well enough to hold a conversation with the neighbour grandpa.
Will see when the time comes for reyes to pick up more mandarin.
