Updates

Been wanting to take pix of the flash cards, but then waited till now...Coz wanted to show one of my gf how the cards looks like..
So here's a sample of the cards. Rie can identify the following animals which is just a few of it. I didnt take pix of the rest of the animals..

She always likes to pick up the pussy cat's pix first, then smile and kiss it..hahahah...and IF she holds the pix upside down, she would use both hands to turn clockwise direction until she gets it right! Clever girl. This is the fisher price mini books that I"ve got from forum as well. There's suppose to be 6, but the stupid seller overseas sent identical books, so end up I have 4. I dont know where rie hid the other book though, coz took this pix in a rush...
What she knows now : She can pick up the book that shows the star and flip and flip with both her thumb till she shows me the pix of the star and car. Good job! I asked her to show dad last night and she did it without fail. They were so proud and whenver rie does something good, we have to clap clap to praise her and she would give herself a clap too..hee hee..

Tired...

I'm starting to feel physically tired and not enough sleep. I dont have energy to keep up with active riesia and would have to nap whenever she takes her afternoon nap....getting old. My back is aching so badly...must be the mattress leh. I miss my simmon bed. When can we shift back to sleep....

Dad came by with mum last night to see Rie. It was 5 mins before they enter the house when rie stop crying. She fell down and hurt herself on the chair. Aiyo..is all my fault lah. tsk tsk..poor girl.

This girl has mummy's heart and it warms me when she do things to melt my heart. She knows what is a comb and we have a flash card full of comb and when she picks up that card, she would put it near her hair as if she's combing her hair...then yesterday afternoon, she came near me and put the card near my hair to comb for me...She must have remembered the day before hb helped me comb my hair and he passed her the comb to ask her comb for me...

Rie is learning to take her first step liao. She can now stand very steadily still without any support and would take one step towards me before she falls onto me for support...

Now hor, I'm very worried for her safety. Whenever barney show ends, she would crawl to the DVD player and then press PLAY again. So worried she would just knock herself on the tv cabinet and have another ba lu gu...haiz...Tired tired...

Last night, I accidentally woke rie up from her nice sleep and end up she cannot get back to sleep until 1 hour later..haiz...her diapers heavy mah, so i changed for her lor, who knows she open eyes big big then start to yak yak to the ceiling, then cannot sleep liao. I must have doze off coz I didnt even know she went to grab my head band from the floor and it landed next to my pillow..bb not sleeping means mummy cannot sleep. haiz...end up she got so frustrated and kept fussing till i had to coax her to bed...

Did I mention we experience earthquake on MOnday afternoon at around 415pm? It was a slight movement and I thought it might not be, coz this is the first time I'm experiencing tremors at my own home. Bro confirmed there was a quake coz it was more serious at my parents place.

The next night at 230 and 515am, there were tremors and mum said she couldnt sleep coz she felt groggy. hee hee...

White tip...

I saw the white tip this afternoon when rie opened her mouth really wide and laugh..and I thought I saw 2...mmmm.

I'm so proud of Rie...Last friday night, hubby was "coaching" her on her 123 book.

So hubby pointed to the banana on the left page in the bag to show her. And riesia pointed to the right page where the banana is..hahahahah....hubby say he felt so stupid, coz he didnt notice she would go and see that page instead....

Riesia would also point to the water bottle and apples picture when you ask her to do so.

Her room is a pile of mess with all the flash cards that I bought for her during a bulk purchase with some friends...I'm so amazed and happy she can pick up the card that we ask her to, like Rabbit, Pigeon, Owl, Zebra, Windmill (never expected her to know this), Dog, Cat. She seems to take a liking to cats also! She would even kiss the cat picture...HUbby told her, she had better not bring any kittens home like her mummy...muahahahah...Pst, hubby is scareterrified of cats...

This morning, I asked rie if she wanted water. She would let me know if she wants water by bringing me her water bottle to ask me open up the cap. I then pat pat her pillow, said "Lie down" and she really crawl and then lay down on the pillow. Waited for me to put a hanky under her neck and then pass her the bottle to drink....awww...my dear girl has grown up and understands what I am saying.

There are still so many things that I have yet to accomplish with Riesia.

I want to bring her to the zoo, to the bird park, to Botanic Gardens for a picnic and for her to ride on her bicycle at the East Coast Park. I want to bring her watch Disney on Ice, go out shopping together and spend wonderful mother and daughter time together for this whole year.

Time flies by very fast. It's been close 3 months since I have resigned to look after riesia. It has been a wonderful 3 months and I really dread for the time to come when I cannot spend time with her anymore. Everyday she learns something new and always amaze me with what she knows.

Everyone dotes on her alot, coz she is the youngest in our family and the only grandchild in hubby's family. I wonder when a 2nd kid comes along, what would happen.

Just few days back, I was telling hubby. IF I was pregnant with rie this year, I might have just given birth on Feb 29th instead, since last year the last day of Feb was 28th and I delivered rie on 1st March. Wah, if this is true, then she will celebrate her birthday only once every 4 years....

Today is dad's birthday. We gave him a $200 ang bao, but I discovered he put the money back into my bag before we left the house. Aiyah. That's the thing about my parents. They always refuse to accept our money and keep pushing money to us. I think partly is because we are now a single income family and it is really not easy to cope. Plus when the family grows, hubby's gonna be very stress to work hard to bring in more income....

I'm still confused. : (

What a day....

Yesterday wasnt exactly a happy Sunday for me. I think all sundays are always unhappy and I dislike sundays....I shall update what happen when I'm feeling much better.....

Finally, the eruption....

By chance at 830pm, I spotted a piece of torn up tissue and with rie's mouth in the chewing motion. I thought she had ate some tissues again and so I put my finger in to feel...

Nothing though. BUT I felt a sharp edge on the bottom gum!!! Could it be....Yes, it was. Her very first tooth. I cant see any white tip clearly, but I certainly can feel it. It feels like the edge of a sharp crab claw...I cant wait to see her tooth erupt soon...

Been trying to make her finish up my frozen BM and she hasnt been very accomodating. I can almost hear myself shouting at her to fnish it up. Nearly.

I burnt a whole pot of porridge yesterday afternoon coz I fell asleep in the room with Rie. Woke up 45mins later with the whole house filled with burnt smell...even my clothing stunk! I ruin the porridge, ruin my late lunch, ruin the pot as well and have to get a new pot to cook rie's porridge....sigh....

HOliday Inn Parkview

Yesterday marks the last day of our lunar Chinese new year. SO mum wanted to eat her yusheng for the last time before she can taste it again next year.



Dad called up all the hotels to enquire on their buffet and decides on Holiday Inn Parkview at Orchard. They had free flow of yusheng which is DIY.



Apparently they are having a 1 for 1 promotion too and so each person costs $38+++. Hubby needed to study for his CPA test today, so he decides to forego the good food and stay at home. So dad, mum, bro, me and riesia went off to cheong buffet yet again...

Riesia had the dory with her porridge, chocolate fountain and many other food. She wanted watermelon and kept pointing at it till dad took some for her to suck out the juice....

The food wasnt that bad, they had prawn noodles(good), fried hokkein mee(Very nice), kebab, dao gi, fried rice, dory, lamb, duck etc etc...We ate a good 3 hours man..tsk tsk...Would we head there again? I would only go there, IF we have no other good places to head to. They didnt have much variety, not much sushi and my salmon, the pieces were miserable lor and whenever the dish was out, people all cheong for it. I guess coz they placed it at the yusheng making table mah. They should have some at the japanese area what. I had only less than 10 pieces of very thin slice leh...chey.

Dad told us he called up Shangri-la and it costs $88 per person hor..he say someday will try there, the food must be really good, arbo they wont dare to charge so ex...I dont know man. The most unenjoyable buffet I had was at Intercontinental hotel (which was 100% bliang-ja by hubby's good pal). It was an impromp-tu decision to eat there. They had the meditaranian(sp) buffet style. It was SOOO high class, so quiet, hardly anybody in the restaurant, the dishes were so beautifully laid out like a piece of art work that I didnt dare to ruin it. The salmon was a whole piece of fish being displayed and u just dig into the body for whatever portion you want. I feel so pitiful for the fish though....

Their dessert bar is fabulous, especially the creme bulee..I like it alot. Rie didnt enjoy herself, she didnt like the pancakes, didnt like much of the cakes either...

Perhaps if they have international buffet, I would go there again. Till then when we head to another buffet, shall update...

bumper mat craze

I've got 2 of my gf mad about bumper mat and they have placed their orders too. mauahahhah. Guess a picture tells it all har...you definitely wont regret getting it...

Watching soccer???

Last Tuesday on our anniversary day, my parents brought us to Lai Huat restaurant at the Jalan Besar stadium for dinner..yummy...There was a live soccer going on at 740pm and hubby brought rie to walk walk while we continued our dinner.

Surprisingly, he went to buy a $5 ticket and went in with rie. I bet rie must be very excited to watch a live soccer match! Indeed she was excited. Hubby said she remained really guai sitting on his lap and clapping her hands as and when. And also when hubby said "GOAL", she would raise both her arms up in the air...

Alas, the experience only lasted about 40mins as hubby came out to look for us to head home. We managed to sell off the ticket to another guy. Rie was sad, she kept looking outside the window in the car and even as dad drove off, she stood up and looked through the rear window....Aiyo....mum asked dad to bring her watch again tomorrow. And so, IF they really do bring her out, then I would have a chance to sneak out to do my eyebrows trimming..It's getting messy...and I'm getting lazy to trim them.

With that, I was telling hb, wondering if I can manage with rie at the disney on ice or not. I want to bring her to watch as whenever the commercial comes on telly, she would look attentively and point and point. Hence, still wondering..Checked out the seatings for a afternoon show, not bad leh...quite near. $29.50. should I?

Lana cake yummy...

We have just returned from Bukit Timah...dad sent us down to order riesia's first year birthday cake. A chocolate yummy lana cake. The guy who served us quite handsome looking leh..but think I'm way older than he is...sigh...

It's gonna be a 2.8kg, simple square/rectangular cake. I didnt go for any fancy cake, though the taste should come first rather than design. I cant wait to eat the cake..yum.

Now it's to my buffet caterer...Die lah, I have yet to decide but then most likely gonna try out this YLS catering. Read from motherhood forum they are actually quite good, but dont know how good their food and service are. I have to make call asap, otherwise will fall back to fu kwee again.

Happy 2nd Anniversary...

Today is my wedding anniversary. Nothing special. In fact, my parents are the one that are kind of excited or perhaps worried for me...



Dad called up hb this morning to asked if we are going out for celebration or not. Coz if we arent, then uncle is gonna come over to take the foreign domestic worker test online at our place to get the maid. And then dad asked whens our wedding anni? was it yday or today. And he told hb he have to get me something blah blah. Hb just cannot be bothered about such things and though I'm disappointed deep down, but then what to do?



so tonight there's no plans, we are just gonna go over mum's place for dinner....sigh...so much for 2nd anniversary.

Jan, you asked what does she go on the mat....here's what's going on the mat...I put all her toys and the musical chair(her fav) on the mat for her. She would sit on the chair and watch her cartoon show. Arbo she will point point to the cartoon characters on the mat or play her toys on the mat. So she is hardly in the playpen now...

As for the beings....coz of the incident that time in the bedroom where rie kept so quiet and kept hmmm hmmm..then point and then eyes darting as if there is smthing moving. But funny lor, that time after we sprinkle, rie woke up crying twice before she finally falls in deep sleep.aiyo...duno is it she knows they are no longer there to play with her anymore...sigh....it better not be true.

Porridge...

Am updating this posting for a gf of mine...

This is the measuring cup I use to measure rie's porridge. She now takes 40ml of rice for lunch and dinner and would finish everything.

I used to cook just plain porridge. But over at my mum's place, she adds this mixed vegetables in for flavour only. She would separate out the peas, carrots and corns while feeding rie. So I follow the same, add in say about 20 pieces or agar agar. I would smash the peas and feed rie, but my mum doesnt.

So step one is add in rice with the mixed veges and cook till abit nua nua. Then add in the chopped spinach.....here's how it looks like...Stir.

Then later add in the fish. We use ma yao yu. I dont give much fish, coz rie doesnt like the fishy smell alot. So here's what I normally give only. Chop up small pieces and add in porridge. Stir well...cook till you think the porridge is nua enough for baby.

Here's the end product. I feed rie from a food thermal, coz she only takes her food hot and warm. So I would scope up maybe say 3 soup spoon size and then add in a pinch of marmite/bovril for flavour...

Smash the fish and peas before serving. Remove the carrots and corn before serving. And there goes rie's lunch.

Sunday...I dread...

I couldnt get to sleep the whole night yesterday again. It's been like these the past few days..I dont even dare to see the time for fear I have little time left to sleep before rie wakes up..sigh...She woke up at 930 this morning and I had to drag myself to the market with hb to get fish, vege and our breakfast.

Ever since the market got renovated, we have to walk a further distance...so far leh..So anyhow, did our marketing and then hb reminded me to get the pomelo leaves after gf suggested.

So just now after we are back from MIL's place, we sprinkle the pomelo leaves with water outside our gate. It was so hilarious..haha. I kept uttering in English and hb said we have to speak to "them" in hokkein. Alamak, I dont know how to speak lah. So sprinkle sprinkle..Hopefully rie will have good night sleep....

I showed her the bumper mat on Sat after she woke up from her beauty nap. Wah, the minute I stepped out to the living room, she kept mmm mmm and pointing to the mat..hee hee. She knows where is bear, apple, elephant, ice cream cartoon on the mat. And she now spends most of her time on it. I sure hope she will make full use of it.

This afternoon we lazed on the mat with hb. He kept pestering me how much the mat cost but I just shut him up. I told him,how much would he pay for this mat? He said probably $20-$50. Wait long long. Then he say it must be $200, otherwise why I wouldnt dare to let him know the actual price..hee hee...

And I'm happy deep down that he said the mat is very comfy and nice and he even spent his afternoon nap on the mat! Muahahahahahahha...

Today, the 18th of Feb is riesia's chinese birthday. Happy birthday my darling....How fast she is a year old now. Mummy wish you all the best in your future, be a good girl, be intelligient, be guai guai so mummy wont have a hard time and be healthy. Muacks muacks...

Agar agar...should I?

Been browsing the forum to see what ideas for Riesia's first year birthday party..Had wanted to get her a really fancy cake, top of the world, really girly one(also to satisfy mummy's fantasy lah..), but then it's really not cheap hor...

It can come up to about $100+, heartpain and she is so young, dont know if she appreciates or not. Hence, I have decided, to go with nice yummy cake rather than the design. So will stick to the old fashion lana cake. Yummy...Chocolate fudge. I hope my guests love it too. Dad say will head down to take a look next wed if we have time..yippy.

Next ..wait...my bumper mat is here...yeah yeah..here's the pix of it...As you can see, the mat already cover alot of my living room area liao...hence, cant afford to get the bigger size one as well. Ex also leh..tsk tsk. But I'm very happy with my purchase for riesia. This is her first year birthday pressie from mummy...

Next up, what am i gonna tell hubby about this mat..He's sure gonna ask me how much..I shall slash the price by 70% off. hee hee....Cant wait for rie to wake up to see her pressie...

Okay, the picture of winnne the pooh is actually agar agar. Thought of ordering...it costs $38 per piece. Agar agar cheap cheap, but then, I guess we are paying for the workmanship. once again, should I order? will riesia appreciates it? or maybe when she is older then I order..by then, the price may no longer be $38 liao lor.

To the doctor...

Last night, I couldnt get to sleep. Dont know why, but I just felt very uncomfortable in my bed and kept turning around.

It didnt help that rie kept flipping around too. She couldnt breathe with her blocked nose. Poor girl.

So this morning once she woke up, I brought her to Dr heng at TPY. It wasnt crowded, but the wait was long! You know, we only went in for less than 5 mins and we were out. Checked her lungs, her nose, any fever, her throat, talk talk talk and we were out.

So easy money right! She didnt prescribe any medication IF I didnt ask for leh. She said rie had sensitive nose? ((Everything sensitive. That time also said she had sensitive skin)), then gave me this allergy drop to drop for 7 days. Then this Otivirin(spelling. Lazy to check) for blocked nose and wanted to give me this seawater spray as well, but heng I say I bought it liao. Otherwise, duno how much she is gonna charge me.

Then when it was ready to collect medication, I saw this HUGE bottle of cough syrup. I wonder why cant they open up and pour into small bottles? I am just afraid the bill would come up to hundreds after the lady before me paid up $322 leh...I told the reception, I dont need the cough mixture.Phew. Then she gave rie this sachets of flumincil to clear up phlegm. I got this as well from Dr serene for my cough phlegm and so I asked what was that for, the reception then say is for throat and her nose..I swear that is to be taken with the cough mixture and to clear up any cough phlegm! I could have said I dont want, but then just took lor.

Heng, the bill came up to $66. Phew. And end up with no actual cold medicine! Over at dr serene, rie had 2 bottle of medicine and that costs only $25. Tsk tsk...If dr heng's allergy medication doesnt work, I'm gonna stick back to Dr serene's.

At least with the new Pororo & friends show, I can do my stuff while rie stays glued to the TV. Haiz...if only I know she likes these characters, I would have got her the Pororo & friends bumper mat...*I still like the sweet bear one*

Well well....I'm surprised rie knows what is the meaning of "nana". *blush*. And she knows how to demand for it! She of course does this when she wants to sleep and only wants me...She would crawl to me, sit infront of me, do the carebear stare.

Stare at breast.
Stare at mummy.
Stare and breast again.

Then attempt to use her 2 hands to lift up my tee shirt!!! And if I refuse, she would try and try and become frustrated...Pengz...

And whenever I utter "nana", she would do the same as above..Told hubby dont say the sacred word unnecessarily....hush....

Yesterday I made rie really angry. She had wanted to go to the study room, but I forbit her. And what she do? She yell and yell and so I told her NO. she started to beat my face! I beat her palms and said NO. She got so bad, she pinched my face. I did the same. And she scratched herself! She got so mad and frustrated, she just scratched herself and now there is a small patch over her eyes...sigh.....

Rie's up, gotta go...

Wah, so long didnt have the time to update blog..busy busy lah...

First of all, Happy new year everyone!!! Gong heng fai choy....

Our first day of new year was to head to MIL's place...dread

We dressed rie up in this cute pink chinese top with pants. It's a hand me down from my niece. There is another red one which is very very cute too,but then I left it at my mum's place lor, so cannot wear that for her...

All ready to head out... Looking daze while waiting for the cab...We had our quick lunch and head to my parents place in no time. I cant wait to taste my mum's cooking...She always cook up a huge feast during Chinese New Year...yummy...

Alas, that day 7th of Feb marks a sad day too. I was the one who discovered the muta puteh has passed away so suddenly...I went to the kitchen and was trying to see what the little bird was doing, but then I cant find it in the cage. Upon closer look, my god, she was lying so still on the floor of the cage. So sad leh....This little bird flew to our house by chance one day and after much dispute, mum decided to keep it. So it has stayed in our house for the past few months...singing at 5am and having bath time on sundays....

So sad...I took it downstairs to bury it. Rest in peace my dear friend...

I got sick that day too. Sigh..caught the flu bug from hubby and was having terrible sore throat. No more goodies, how sad!!! Boo hoo.... I self-medicated till yesterday decided to head to the doctor. Another reason was also Rie caught the flu bug yesterday morning..Tsk tsk. She was sneezing away and was dripping..aiyo..Poor girl, she has lots of difficulties breathing with her blocked nose...

Hubby went out to get this seawater spray recommended by my gf.

Not bad leh, it does helps to clear rie's blocked nose...and also to wash up as well. Not cheap though, hubby said it costs about $13+.

We went to River Hong bao on Sat to walk walk see see. Dragged my parents along too. It's been a long long time since they went walk walk liao...Wah, quite crowded leh, and rie was so excited and overwhelmed by all the activities like the horse rides, water boats, top gun, bumper cars. She can just watch real still and point and point...Wait till you are older then you can get to play yeah...

Hubby tried the top gun on impulse. He needed to get some stress out. Costs him $10. I wanted to try too, but then no guts lah. Scare I will puke all out. Muahahahahahah...

There were guys selling balloons too, and they were really nice and pretty. Rie kept staring at the balloons, guess she wanted one. Hubby wanted to buy, I said no. $5 leh. I was wrong! each balloon costs $12 leh....Well....guess who bought in the end? Dear grandpa lor. He told us he is gonna bring rie to see the pig's horoscope. We waited quite long and then we saw a floating dolphin balloons flying behind them...Grrr..Mum asked me not to say anything, otherwise dad will feel upset...

Dad also bought 3 new barney vcd for rie to watch after feedback from me that she got sick of watching the old vcds over and over again. He's gonna spoilt her....

Toilet Bowl??

wah liao, while chatting with my gfs online, all was quiet in the living room. I went to peep, no sight of rie. Thought she venture to kitchen, no sight, then she was spotted standing at the toilet bowl! she was so tempted to put her hands into the water to play!

Now I gotta keep the toilet door closed. This isnt the first time she went in, but I always caught her when she is half body in the toilet. This time is the first time I see her standing at the toilet bowl! Tsk tsk...

Shopping time...

Today, I head out to HF to meet up with this lady to exchange my isetan vouchers to Robinsons ones. Suppose to meet her on Sunday at parkway, but it was pouring and the Mr kept making noise lor, so I told him I will meet her myself with Rie.

It was a challenge for me to travel so far out with Rie alone...I packed my bag.

It was a very smooth journey. Didnt wait for long for bus 125 and the train arrived in 5 mins. Train was rather empty and so we had a seat. The lady said 1210pm and I was there at 1205.

She was late.

Grr.....(at this moment, my upstairs stupid irritating neighbour is throwing her bamboo out again and is making ding dong noise. damn it. Rie's asleep okay!! Be considerate. Someday, just someday, I must march up to her flat and scold her in the face)

Okay, back to story, she was late. made me wait so long. Dun like late comers. Exchanged and off I went to Robinsons at Somerset to get my babysafe infant pillow. I've managed to find a ROM friend to share with me. She is 27 weeks preggie and she was so nice to just agree to share with me, even without looking at the actual item! Thanks Diana...

So I've got her a blue strips one for her boy and a pink flower one for Rie. Cant resist getting additional pillow cases 2 at $12.50 for Rie as well...

Tummy was hungry and so I went to get 2 mcchicken burgers and we shared....Then off I head for home and reached home at 3pm. I was out a good 4 hours...It was enjoyable to shop without hubby. I took my own sweet time choosing the pillow case, pillows and had rie on the carpet playing her elmo. Wonder when will I ever have the energy to bring her out that far again.

Now my left shoulder ache...

Spooky...

Something spooky happened last Friday in our room that only me and rie were present.

As usual, rie woke up at 830am and then played with her toys in the room while I still lay down idling...so tired leh...

Then scarly I heard no sound from her and then I peep at her. She was sitting upright, staring infront of her, not moving at all. Then she "hmmm" and pointed infront of her. Then her eyes darted from front to her side, then back to front again. And stare...then "hmm" and pointing again.

I sat up and see what was infront. There were pieces of the toys r us catalogues and I told myself, she perhaps is looking at the pictures....But at that moment, it was so scary lor!! I thought she could see her friends again...

Coz when she was young, she often looked behind our back and then would smile and her eyes darting across the rooms one...eee...now that she is grown up liao, no more already....

A murder took place at our opposite block on Sat at the 16th Floor. It was in the news and was on papers on Sunday...Aiyo..We were up at around 930am and I suppose all the hoo-haas were gone by then. There were police cars, reporters...So scary right?

I often looked out of my kitchen window and I thought their living room window was very unique, coz the owner changed those black grills to the white type one. Never knew.....sad right....

Bumper mat...

Die liao lor, I just placed order for a bumper mat for Rie.

Actually har, been wanting to get this bumper mat LONG LONG time, but you know, keep pycho-ing myself I dont need it.



but now that rie is crawling all over the house and she often hide at her own muscial chair corner, I thought can get this mat for her...

This mat measures 1900 * 1300 * 11mm. So it is about the length of our bed mattress. It looks quite huge to me leh, but there is another larger size in fact, 2300mm one and I like that design more! Of course the larger it is, the more $$$ lah..

This one that I'm ordering costs me $152 liao leh. Never expected it to be so ex, but then, thinking maybe can sell off next time if Rie dont want liao lor. The larger one is..eh-hem $266. I can do so much with that sum of $ leh...

I remember during an outing with my gfs, one of them kept shopping for her son's stuff. And she said now whenever out shopping, it is always shopping for her kids and hardly hers. This is OH SO true! It is the same for my colleague too and me as well. This is the mother-child syndrome man....Now I go out shop shop will head to the nursery department, look see look see also gian. hahahaha.

Just called up TMC pharmacy and they do carry the littlepods pouch to try out the size. Too bad they have only M and L size. no XL, hence will pop by to see if L size fits me or not...if it does....may just order one...
